CURRENT INSTRUCTIONS FOT THE USE OF THE FIT LIBRARY:

  • The library is open to FIT students and staff without restrictions.
  • Wearing a mouth-nose covering is not mandatory at present.
  • Keeping a distance of 1.5 m from other library visitors and disinfecting hands is recommended. 
  • It is not necessary to register when entering the library.
  • Lending of books:
    Books can be borrowed and/or returned (see on-site notice board for details).
  • Interlibrary loans are possible.
  • Only a limited number of workstations are available in the library for working and studying. 
  • External users have access to the library only during the presence of the librarian. It is therefore recommended that you arrange your visit to the library with the librarian in advance by e-mail or telephone.

The library is located in the middle of the campus. Its holdings are bilingual (German and English) and include about 65,000 volumes. 

Its collection focuses on the following areas:

  • Intercultural Theology
  • Mission Studies
  • History of Christianity and Religion
  • Bible Studies
  • Migration
  • Social Work
  • and Development Studies.

The library is a member of the Common Union Database (GBV) and participates in interlibrary loan as a receiving and lending library. Via the GBV, users have access to the holdings of academic libraries from 10 German states, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and other institutions in the fields of science, research and culture.
