Biblical research from an intercultural perspective

One focus of the research activity is the analysis of the different perceptions and receptions of biblical texts in different social, political and cultural contexts. In particular, it is important that not only the so-called Western exegesis can claim to provide an adequate interpretation of biblical texts. The task of an intercultural biblical hermeneutics is rather to show that especially Asian and African readings of biblical texts have their right to exist.

Another research focus is the examination of the conceptions of war as well as the legitimation of violence in religious contexts. In this context, Prof. Kunz-Lübcke has participated in a research group within the framework of the ´Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Theologie` (Scientific Society for Theology), which has dealt with the phenomenon of religiously motivated violence.
